For the better!

Sia's new music video for "You've Changed", off of her upcoming album entitled We Are Born. It's so funky and happy and stop-motion! Thank God for the Aussies down unda! (Yes, I just wrote the two most typically annoying words describing Australians ever.)

Hear more HERE.

Love Me

I've been seeing these stickers/ tags around NYC lately and I'm wondering what they are...

Desperate? Beautiful? Pitiful? Hopeful? Global? Individual? ....

A Single Man

This movie looks like it was made straight from a can of Exquisite Taste. Then again, it was directed and written by Tom Ford (based on the novel by Christopher Isherwood). Julianne Moore looks stunning and the costuming and make-up are amazing! Can't wait.

If Only...

Oh, Marc! You are the spark in the dark of the park with the narc!
Allow me to remark you're likeness to a bull shark in that you embark like an amusement park in St. Bar[k]ts!

Marc Jacobs and husband Lorenzo Martone in St. Barts for the holidays. Not too shabby. I guess they don't wear much Marc, though... Personally, my beach towel is bright pink/from Tarjay and the tote that holds it is the backpack I used in the fourth grade. Not quite up to par with Louis or the Birkin.

AWESOME song of the day: Bubble Bath by The Swiss

Smile! it's Jesus' Birthday

Mission Sourires d'Afrique, a.k.a Africa Smiles Mission, is an organization that provides free reconstructive surgeries for children with cleft lip and cleft palate deformities. Donations also fund transportation costs for the children, their families and the doctors traveling to Bamako for surgery from other parts of Mali. My aunt, a philanthropic and charitable pediatric anesthesiologist (no big deal), gifted us with these sweet soaps which help fund the mission. How poetic is it to give the gift of a smile!

Smells like sweet lavender - and has a heart on it, for extra loooooove!

Cool-blue lavender marbled in.

Rosemary and lavender pressed into the side.

Merry Christmas from NY

... or whatever holiday you might be celebrating!

Matching sisters, just like when we were 5. Only now more embarrassing! Batteries not included. Seriously though, best pj's EVER.

New Jay-Z

Jay-Z's new video for "Forever Young".
Is it weird for me to say how much I love the lighting in this video?
Meanwhile, Mr. Hudson's voice is the butter to my toast, with an accent.

Happy Christmahannukwanzaakah!

p.s. this IS the song of the day.

Improv Everywhere

My new favorite thing/idea/concept that I find to be absolutely amazing/hilarious/ingenious.

It's called Improv Everywhere and it's a group that "causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. Created in August of 2001 by Charlie Todd, Improv Everywhere has executed over 100 missions involving tens of thousands of undercover agents. The group is based in New York City."

My favorite one (amongst the most recent) is Where's Rob?

I find the whole idea so amazing in it's non-disturbance. Does that make sense? What I'm trying to say is that all of these "pranks" are in good-natured fun and aren't meant to upset or disturb anyone, which is why they are so great. They're well thought-out events for people who need a good story to tell at the dinner table, perhaps accompanied by some visual evidence (there seem to be lots of people with camera phones and other image-capturing trinkets for visual keep-saking in the videos).

Speaking of shadez...

Check out the Vintage Frames Company, they have some of the rarest and dopest eye wear ever. Oh, and they're based in Montreal (*wink!). I love that city.

Seriously though, the sunglasses are amazing and he has - or seems to have, anyway - every pair of awesome eye-wear imaginable, in every color.

Two snaps and a circle!

Bad-Ass StevieBoi

Stevie Boi makes some amazing-looking accessories, apparel and hater-blockers. I am mostly hypnotized by the shades though, as you may have been able to tell. They're KICK ASS, BAD ASS, SICK AS[S]!

Song of the day: Sirkka by Fear of Tigers

Amazing.

Emily Eisen, NY. First assistant to Nicola Formichetti.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT the coolest headband ever? - I hope she doesn't get into a headbutting fight with anyone though...

I can't wait for this.

Enough said.

I WOULD love this

Silvery gray color: perfect
Tight fit with long sleeves & not-too-long, not-too-short: perfect
Shoulder details: priceless.

The dress is H&M and I lurve it mucho. I think I'd wear it with some black tights and some black high-heeled booties - like THESE (I die for those).

Obsessed!

p.s. I'm looking for some tights with a seam up the back that stops mid-hamstring with a big bow. It's like THIS, but not on the side and slightly more classy and also like THIS, but tights, not hold ups. Anyone?

p.p.s. song of the day: "Belong" by Washed Out

It's a BUTT SLED

"What the HELL are you talking about?!" You say?

These are the Pull on Snow Shorts, by Orvis (found HERE), which is essentially an outfit jam-packed with non-removable fun.

PRO: Your SLED is already attached to your DERRIERE, so you can go sledding without having to carry around that pesky, heavy sled.
CON: You look like an upside down ninja turtle. Which, now that I think of it, it definitely NOT a con; maybe a better con is the fact that your legs have to be elevated the whole time you're sledding, but then again, this is probably a good thing seeing as it would result in one hell of an ab workout.
PRO: It comes in small kids, big kids (a.k.a. American kids) and adult sizes and is only $35.
CON: You can't really sled down with a friend, which could potentially be good because they just drag down your speed and momentum anyway.

Look at these kids having a grand old time!

My Christmas list is getting too long.

SANTACON[s little children into thinking they are getting way more presents than usual]

Santacon is a "not-for-profit, non-political, non-religious & non-logical Santa Claus convention, attended for absolutely no reason." (thank you, SantaCon NYC [highly entertaining] website) A.k.a, it's a day where drunken buffoonery, belligerent idiots and obnoxious chanting are all acceptable as long as you look like Santee-Claus (this also includes racy Mrs. Clauses and the odd elf, Jesus, Mary and reindeer).

It happens once a year and it's actually pretty fun to watch - also, they give free candy! Not that I took any, but the thought was there at least.

There are SantaCons all over the world (seriously, it's an international thing) spreading the holiday cheer by parading around the streets and bars and parks (Washington Park was a mess around 10pm Saturday, December 12th, 2009) and singing dirty Christmas carols with not-so-conventional lyrics that are witty to say the least (RE: check out the website to see some of the aforementioned songs). I hear they also try to collect food for the homeless, which is charitable - I just hope it includes more than candy canes.

Santa Claus at 21 with a part-time job.

Why does Santa need a MetroCard? WHERE THE HELL IS RUDOLPH - SANTA NEEDS TO GET TO THE BAR.

Santas in Grand Central Station - coming from his luxurious weekend getaway in the suburbs, peut-être.

Santa texting his peeps (elves etc...) to meet up for the after-party.

NYC jam-packed with eeeeediots - (I am, of course, talking about the guy oh-so-discreetly fixing his "sweatpants" on the right).

Sad yet funny

Ah, evolution and survival of the fittest. A huge thank you to Herbert Spencer and Charles Darwin, for their contributions to theories about the world's biological economy. This charming yet somehow cheerless cartoon is from The Chive, one of the many procrastination blogs in my "Blogs" bookmark folder. Seriously though, I love cartoons like this that are meant to be read "backwards", if you catch my meaning; it creates a particular type of suspense that is lighthearted and eases the tension of the harsh reality of the punch line. Also, it definitely shows how respectful we've been to John T. Rex and his lovely wife, June.

WAKE UP PEOPLE, SAVE THE DINOSAURS.

Craftacular

Sounds like something Count Chocula would say in a deep, skeevy voice over a symphony of thunder and malicious laughter.

The Bust Holiday Craftacular, however, is not an event you will find in Transylvania or any other dracula-ridden place. Craftacular is a huge room filled with tables full of crafty trinkets, clothing, postcards, vintage jewelry, beautiful jewelry, fabulous jewelry, bad-ass jewelry and so much more. (Woah, jewelry is one of those words that gets really weird when you say it too many times - it's also oddly difficult to type). The Craftacular takes place at the Metropolitan Pavillion at 125 W. 18th in NYC once a year and I am more than glad I was able to get to it this year. There were over 200 vendors selling homemade pieces and it was absolutely wonderful.

I'd like to share with you some pictures (thank you, once again, to Kevin for the phabulous photos) and people with some of the craziest talent at the show:

Joanna Petrone, of Ach Ach Liebling

Love these.

Aaron Ruff, of Digby & Iona
Not too shabby.

There's a bird in that cage.

And a particularly amazing one:
Vera Balyura, of Verameat

Amazingly comfortable two-finger rings.

SICK ring.

Also, I don't have any photos of their clothes, unfortunately, but it's definitely worth checking out Photosynthesis - lots of fun tees, totes and vintage clothing with cute hearts that are all super soft (Alternative Apparel shirts), hand-printed, making them unique even if they have the same design.

I'm sad Craftacular only happens once a year, but I'm so happy I made it- on a whim nonetheless!
