The White Fairy Tale Love Ball

Natalia Vodianova and all of her friends got together at her beautiful property to raise money for the Naked Heart foundation, which helps create playgrounds for children in Russia (they were 2.3 million dollars successful!). The video speaks for its fabulous self.

Kate Middleton x Sarah Burton

And the winner is... Sarah Burton! The successor to the great Alexander McQueen was the chosen designer for the royal wedding dress. Perfectly lacy, surprisingly not overdone (for a royal wedding) and paired with a gorgeously subtle veil, the gown looked stunning on an even more stunning Kate. "The dress itself features a lace applique of hand-cut flowers on the bodice and skirt made by the Royal School of Needlework. All fabrics used were made by British companies and included English lace and French Chantilly lace, ivory and white satin gazar with the underskirt made of silk tulle trimmed with Cluny lace. The back of the custom McQueen gown was finished with 58 gazar and organza covered buttons fastened by Rouleau loops. Kate also wore hand-made McQueen shoes made of ivory duchesse satin with lace hand-embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework. The Duchess of Cambridge's silk tulle veil was held in place by a Cartier tiara, lent to bride by the Queen." Congratulations to the lovely couple.

Smokey is what smokey does

This is a print I have always been a fan of; it's so ingeniously dark, sexy and flirtatious. Alexander McQueen was truly mind-boggling.

I love prints that allow the product to be unique in it's own way - by this I mean that each piece is able to be somewhat one of a kind because no two smokey patterns can be the same. Not only did he create some very special designs, but the patterns leave room for the consumer's comfort in knowing they own something that is virtually inimitable.

Now that's exceptional talent!

two necklaces and a dress

Fabulous dress by Chanel - I'm very much into delicate lacy detailing right now and, of course, I love the sparkly shoulder additions.

Stunning necklaces (with a LOVEly hidden message) by Catherine Malandrino.

things to look at

A mirror at home - one of those mistake-pictures-that-turn-out-surprisingly-nicely.

I love these two dresses - the white one is a bit too short for my personal taste, but I adore the open front.

Another streetbot! - on a wall this time - found downtown NYC, near Delancey.

On my coffee cup - made me laugh and blush at the same time. :)

Newspaper

This one's actually made from pages out of a telephone book.

Creative people rock.

Now I know this is surely an idea older than the Roman Empire (yes it is, and don't call me Shirley), but I wanted to share with you a collection of garments created entirely out of newspaper by some very imaginative designers. Feel free to contribute to the visual goodness if you have any other suggestions (a.k.a. links, images, entire sites devoted to this kind of genius?)

First three are the highest scorers on last season's Project Runway, when they had the designers create a look using only newspaper, glue and dye (if they chose to color the newspaper).
