Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen's last collection - exquisite! The 16 pieces where apparently all cut "on the stand" by Lee himself - inspired by Byzantine art, Old Master paintings and the carvings of Grinling Gibbons to name a few. Each model was adorned with a bronzed cap (some with a Mohawk of leaves), similar to Roman warriors. I hate to make the corny connection but he was a warrior of uniqueness himself.
Only a select few were invited to view this collection. The shoes are phenomenal...

Quattro

Spotted: things that inspire the mind's natural capacity for creativity (how poetic).

Proenza Schouler tie dye

THE Lady Gaga dress on diplay at the Armani flagship store on 5th ave for a limited time only - alongside the iconic gowns (including one worn by Miss Beckham herself!) of quite a few other celebutites (typo on purpose although I'm not sure why - maybe I was thinking of stalagmites and stalactites? Nerd alert!).

A dress I love... should I? Perhaps I can make it... project!

FYI - Vitalic

FYI - I had lots of fun at the Vitalic show a couple weeks back in NYC (February 26th, to be exact) - great music although he was only there for what seemed to be the EXACT amount of time he signed up for - no encores, not much excitement to be there. Alas, the music was good and I was glad to be with some great friends (minus the slight tightness in the room - damn hipsters taking over the world!) Check out more pictures HERE (some are a little out of the ordinary (NSFW) as it was the infamous "Girl's Night Out" - aka Girls will do anything for a potentially free drink.)

Funny in the bathroom - probably the most efficient warning sign for drunken party-goers.

Pascal Arbez (I must've forgotten my professional lens at home).

Nail Week

There are some crazy digit stylez on the runway this season (although I think I love the nudes the most). I went bonkers for the bright silver and golds as well, but don't think that my forlorn and bitten nails would look as perfect.

M.I.A. - the paint is even weaved along her nails! Must've taken one hell of a manicurist to do that kind of work... or one amazing nail sticker kit.

Marisa Miller

She's my favorite model ever and now she's trying out high fashion? Here's Marisa Miller, a Victoria's Secret angel, looking phenomenal on the cover of Vegas magazine . I've always had a huge girl crush on her. I love the fierce eyes and the platinum blonde - the clothes are dope too and she's so damn gorgeous! The editorial was shot by Ben Watts, English photographer based in NY but raised in Australia. I think he succeeded in making Marisa a bombshell - how could he not?! That bone structure is out of this world!

Song of the day (in honor of the recent good weather) is one of my favorites of all time: Fred Falke - 8:08 PM at the beach

two necklaces and a dress

Fabulous dress by Chanel - I'm very much into delicate lacy detailing right now and, of course, I love the sparkly shoulder additions.

Stunning necklaces (with a LOVEly hidden message) by Catherine Malandrino.

Deeeeelish

Wow. This restaurant is amazing! We went to Spice Market for Anne-Camille's 21st (finally!) birthday last week and it was, to say the least, a wonderful experience. When I say "experience" I really mean it, too - it's a whole adventure - time travel, if you will (and if you don't mind my corny blazé banal trite clichés). It's one of Jean-Georges Vongerichten's successes (then again, which one isn't?) that was inspired by the street food he ate while traveling around Asia (he notes Singapore as the linchpin to his inspiration in most of the interviews regarding Spice Market). The place is magnificent. First, the lighting is just right - not so bright that your food might be cooked twice and no where near so dark that you bump into the chef on your way to the bathroom. The lighting is dim and has that romantic candle lit color which makes everything feel warmer. The music has a tribal with an oriental twist to it (sounds like old Buddha Bar tunes). The whole place is adorned with dark carved wood reminiscent of Vietnamese temples, which look beautiful next to the deep burgundy fabrics that are draped around the restaurant. We sat in what they call a "party room" (photos 1 & 5) which was cozy and intimate (the only problem was that the tables were a little too small and it was hard for the waiter to reach the end of the table - we were lucky enough to land on the waiter with the long arms. We decided to opt for the tasting menu, which was one of the best decisions I've made in a while. I mean, check that baby out - it's seriously delicious and their "10 flavors" is one hell of an understatement. At some points I was unable to decipher what exactly it was I was tasting, which always was a good thing because it was all delicious - the only thing that I didn't enjoy as much were the jewels for dessert but I'm not sure if that was because I was so full or because I actually didn't like it (they reminded me of jelly beans). The place also smelled like sweet ginger and mixed with various other spices I can't individualize - Spice Market truly lives up to its simple yet creative name. Overall, it was an experience that I'd love to enjoy a second time and more - the food was delicious and new and the surroundings felt comfortable yet authentic. Love.
