Matisse x Pompidou

After the success of their Munch exhibition, the Pompidou Centre brings together sixty-odd works to show how Henri Matisse would work on the same motif or subject in a multitude of different ways. During his/her life, the style of an artist can obviously change, slowly or radically or both, whilst still using the same subject as source. Matisse was especially fond of revisiting his own work from a different direction, and this exhibition displays pairs of paintings or series (hence the the title) for us to better compare what has changed and how that affects our appreciation of the piece in question. (thanks)
