A few modifications were made in order to get the crochet and stitching correct, so the colors are a bit different here but still absolutely gorgeous.
A couple more stitches to make sure everything is set!

DIY KIINI BIKINI pt 2

It's really coming along! Mom is doing a FABULOUS crocheting job.

By the way I ended up buying an American Apparel blue satin bikini to replace the fabric we were using before to solve the previous issue with the red inside crochet. This way we crocheted over the pre-existing hem, keeping the suit locked in to avoid any holes.

The issue now is how to get the shape of the blue material to form correctly. Since it's not a halter top, and I don't want it to be, the top has to be really fitted to my body, so we're taking my measurements minus a couple centimeters to make sure it's tight!

DIY KIINI BIKINI pt 1

UPDATE: GO TO PART 2 and PART 3!

It's bright and bold and sexy all at the same time. Also, it has a very handmade feel to it - probably because they are all actually handmade with beautiful crochet work, elastic and high tech swimming fabrics. Which is why this is the perfect DIY project. Albeit a bit difficult, but that's what amazing moms who know how to crochet are for, right? ;)

THE INSPIRATION :

THE DIY :

BOUGHT:
- 5 different color elastic bands (about 1cm thickness)
- 5 different color cotton crocheting thread
- 1 piece of stretchy swimwear-esque fabric (I used nylon)

STEP 1: BUY THE STUFF

STEP 2: Cut out the triangles and bikini bottom shape out of a bathing suit that fits:

STEP 3: Decide what colors will go where (crochet vs elastics):
Make sure to leave enough space for the first row of crocheting (1cm).

STEP 4: First tests with crochet (THANKS MOM!):

Mixing It Up/ Celebrity Edition

I'm teaching myself photoshop. What better way to have constant projects than by mixing faces and names together via the glorious world of Hollywood?
